ERIT – Establishing a Regional Innovation and Technology Transfer Ecosystem – Co-funded by the European Union

The overall objective of the ERIT project is to strengthen the regional innovation ecosystem by establishing and enhancing technology transfer capacities, fostering sustainable cross-border cooperation, and increasing the uptake of research results and advanced technologies by businesses. The project contributes to strengthening research and innovation capacities while reinforcing cooperation between higher education and research institutions, businesses, and other stakeholders within the regional innovation ecosystem.

The ERIT project is implemented through three interconnected work packages that collectively support the establishment of a sustainable regional innovation and technology transfer ecosystem. The first work package focuses on establishing three new Technology Transfer Offices (TTOs) in Split, Zenica and Podgorica. A joint methodology for the establishment and operation of the TTOs will be developed, together with operational procedures, practical tools and specialised training programmes aimed at strengthening the capacities of TTO staff. In addition, a Technical Scouting Office will be established within UNIST Technology Park to identify industry needs and connect them with the research expertise, technologies and innovation capacities available within the partner institutions. The second work package is dedicated to developing the regional innovation and technology transfer ecosystem through the preparation of a joint Technology Transfer Strategy, the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the establishment of a Digital Collaboration Platform, and the implementation of capacity-building activities, including workshops, study visits and the final regional conference. The third work package encompasses the design and implementation of a joint pilot activity based on the principles of Industry 5.0. The pilot will test the newly established technology transfer structures in real-life environments, strengthen collaboration between academia and industry, and validate technology transfer models with the potential for wider implementation across the Programme area. The project will result in fully operational Technology Transfer Offices, a joint Technology Transfer Strategy, a Digital Collaboration Platform, specialised capacity-building programmes and a pilot solution that will strengthen technology transfer capacities, enhance innovation performance and competitiveness, and contribute to the long-term sustainability of the cross-border innovation ecosystem throughout the Programme area.

The goal of the project is to strengthen innovation ecosystems in Denmark, Spain, and Croatia through approaches for: (a) entrepreneurs and startups, (b) innovation ecosystem professionals (startup advisors, incubator employees), and (c) investors and other stakeholders. The project received a positive evaluation but was not funded due to limited resources.

The BOWI project supports digital innovation hubs (DIHs), small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and mid-sized companies in accessing and adopting SAE and I4MS technologies. UNIST Technology Park submitted four projects, two of which were funded.

The goal of the project is to develop voice control for warehouse applications using the TensorFlow platform and speech processing technologies.

Spark* Split is a student initiative that provides mentoring and support for the development of student entrepreneurial ideas. The project enables the sharing of best practices from the following activities: Spark*: A peer-to-peer mentoring program for student entrepreneurship development. Teaching Entrepreneurial Mindset: A two-day workshop for educators from all disciplines. Engineering Ladder: Project-based learning in collaboration with industry. Museum of Entrepreneurship: A digital museum of entrepreneurial stories. E3 Initiative: Workshops on technology transfer and innovation commercialization.

Office spaces in the Spinit incubator can be used by startup companies operating in the field of high technology.

A business office is 15 m² and intended for a maximum of 3 people. All offices are modular and can be combined into larger units.

The monthly rent for a business office is 400 EUR, plus VAT. The rent includes all utilities – electricity, water, heating, cooling, telephone, internet, and cleaning. It also includes access to meeting rooms, large and small conference halls, a kitchenette, and a fitness room.

Office space can be rented for a maximum of 3 years.
